The Wave is Coming...

Google is going big time to herald the BrowserOS Era. And the first major milestone towards realizing what would be called the ChromeOS, is the Wave! Yes it is called the Google Wave!

According to the Google Wave's site
Google Wave is a new model for communication and collaboration on the web, coming later this year.
Here is what a Wave is:
  1. A wave is equal parts conversation (email + im) and document.
  2. A wave is shared.
  3. A wave is live.
As pointed out by Lars and Jen (the brain behind the Google Maps, and now the Wave), the Google Wave is a Product, a Platform and a Protocol.

There are amazing things that can be done using the Google Wave technology, and simply the count is numerous!

You can chat in real time (need not press an enter, all participants can see what you are typing as you type!), edit in-line an email message or a document, drag-n-drop images from your desktop onto the Wave, collaborate in real-time, and what not! Do I need to mention the seamless integration of Natural Language tools like spell check and contextual suggestions, or language internationalization? I cannot commit a sin either by not mentioning about the extension features. You can embed waves in other sites or add live social gadgets, thanks to the Google Wave APIs.

Add to these, the wonderful feature to playback the wave across time and see how an email message or a document or a game evolved or passed!

I am really waiting for the Wave to be released (expected in the later part of this year). If you are feeling a li'l excitement then give fuel to it... See this video!
